This is West End UMC’s long tradition of the Advent Candlelighting Service with scripture readings anticipating the Messiah, songs, carols, and anthems by all of the choirs (children, youth, and adult), and carols sung by everyone.  The service ends with the lighting of candles and carols sung as the congregation files out of the darkened sanctuary, each person carrying a lighted candle, symbolic of the light that is to come into the world.
