New Here
Welcome to West End United Methodist Church,
where we believe that God loves everyone unconditionally!
We hope that you’ll take a minute to explore our ministries and opportunities for connection and service.
We’d also love for you to join us for worship online at westendumc.org/livestream or on Facebook.
Everyone is welcome at West End!
Our Story
West End UMC began as a mission church in 1869. We moved to our current location on West End Avenue in Nashville in 1929, and our Sanctuary was completed in 1940. You can read more about our history here.
Our vision is: to be and become the Loving Light of Christ, Connecting, Transforming. We seek to do that through vibrant worship, transformational community, and justice-seeking service in cooperation with local ministry partners.
About Our Sunday Morning Worship
We worship each Sunday in our gothic style Sanctuary, which features a tall ceiling and beautiful stained glass windows. Our worship style is traditional, yet warm; we sing hymns accompanied by organ and led by our choir, and we follow a liturgy (pattern for worship) which provides space for praise, confession, reading of Scripture, sermon, prayer, and response.
Children are welcome in worship and are encouraged to participate to the extent that they are able. If you would like childcare during the worship service for children younger than three years, our nursery is located on the first floor inside our Preschool area.
We serve Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month. In our United Methodist tradition, everyone is welcome to receive the Sacrament; you don’t have to be a certain age, a member of West End, or even a baptized Christian to receive the bread and cup (grape juice). When worshiping online, you are invited to join in Communion from home with your own bread and juice.
We are currently worshiping both online and in person at both 8:45 and 11 a.m. Our online services are available via Livestream and Facebook Live, but is available at any time here.
