We continue our series on David with this story of his moving the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. In the process, not only is there great excitement among the crowds at such a significant event, but David, the king, dances with clear exuberance and abandonment, rejoicing before the Ark. Although much of the story reflects that excitement, it also reveals that his wife, Michal, seeing him dance like that, “despised him in her heart.” We, too, are often hesitant about rejoicing with abandon before God. Why are we hesitant?
