Paul has heard that some in the church in Corinth are lording it over others, so he writes to tell them that each person has a particular gift, given by the Spirit, so that it takes all of them to make the whole. His analogy is that it takes quite different parts of a human body to make a whole person. It is the reason we value the gifts of any and every person who wants to be a part of our church body.
