Not Alone

Speakers:Rev. Maggie Jarrell
Topics:Children's moment, Sermon, Sunday service

In the text for today, part of Jesus’s farewell discourse to the disciples, Jesus reassures them that although he will be leaving, they will not be alone.  He says he will not leave them “orphaned.”  The promise is that the Holy Spirit will be with them.  It is reflected in the creed we most often use in our worship services – “In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us.  We are not alone.”  Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic with its social distancing we see abundant examples of people giving presence to others.   (NOTE: We usually post the 11 o’clock service, but with the COVID-19 threat we are having only the 8:45 service today, and that is the service we are posting.  NOTE:  Although the video begins with the Children’s Moment, once it starts you can scroll back to the beginning of the service if you want.  The video of the entire service is available to watch.)
