Taizé Service of Prayer and Healing, January, 2025

Speakers:Rev. Will McLeane
Topics:Taizé Service of Prayer and Healing

The Taizé Service of Prayer and Healing is a different kind of worship service. Contemplative in nature, it is one of the ways to get in touch with one’s mystical self in the company of others with a similar intent, quieting the mind and listening for God.  This service is introduced and led by Rev. Will McLeane, our Pastor of Spiritual Formation, and the Taizé musicians led by Andrew Risinger on the piano.  This particular Taizé Service makes use of the labyrinth in our Fourth Floor Theatre, knowing that walking is a way to unify the physical with prayer in the sacred geometry of the labyrinth.  When one enters the labyrinth, one is gaining entrance to communion with God.  There are contemplative readings from the Fourth Gospel and also from Psalm 139.  There are also periods of silence at various points, including a time of extended silence, and there is a time for healing.  In the midst of the service, Will instructs us in the realization of our own sacred space and how we meet God there.
