Lenten Noon Concert Series 2024 (1st Concert)
Each year West End UMC hosts a series of concerts on Thursdays at noon during Lent, and this first one of Lent, 2024, features Matthew Phelps, piano, and Keith Nicholas, cello, performing the three movements of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata for Cello and Piano in A major, opus 68. Dr. Phelps is Minister of Music at West End UMC, and Mr. Nicholas is an active studio and chamber musician in Nashville. They are both very active in various music groups and performances. The piece they are playing is Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata for Cello and Piano in A major, op. 68, and its three movements are:
I. Allegro, ma non tanto
II. Scherzo – Allegro Molto
III. Adagio cantabile – Allegro vivace
