A Service of Prayer and Lament
West End will hold A Service of Prayer and Lament. We carry so much at this time: the loss of hundreds of thousands of lives in the United States from COVID-19, the loss life and immense pain resulting from the atrocities of racial injustice, the grief over the state of our world, and the anxiety that the upcoming election brings. Despite it all, we are doing our best to function, produce, and carry on as normally as we can.
On Tuesday, October 27 at 6 PM, you are invited to pause and lay these burdens down before our God of Hope and Love. We will gather for a brief service to light candles, to kneel and pray, to hold space for the grief that has pervaded this season. You are invited to come to the Sanctuary at 6 PM, or the breezeway outside the cloister garden will be available from 6pm to 8pm for those seeking an open-air option for candle lighting, reflection and prayer. A livestream of the service will also be available. To stop, to grieve, is an act of resistance. We hope you will join us in the ways you are able, in solidarity, in hope, and love.
